Young Citizen Award Winner 2011
Young Citizen Award Winner 2011
The Stagecoach Theatre Arts Young Citizen Award
Presented by Nigel Lindsay, this award recognises a young person who has initiated an event to raise funds for a worthy cause, or someone who has carried out community activity for the benefit of others.
The Winner was 16 year old, Megan Bhari from Loxwood, West Sussex.
During the past three years, Meg was very poorly and in constant pain. She has endured 23 operations over the years and is unable to lie down spending each night sitting upright. Yet throughout this she remains positive and focussed. Meg formed her own charity called "Believe in Magic" which brings Magic to the lives of other seriously ill children. She designed and built the website, organised a fantastic children's party at Hamleys, set up a National raffle, and has more than 6000 followers on her Twitter page. Meg is a truly inspirational young lady.
Highly Commended in this category went to 14 year old, Octavia Woodward from Wincanton, Somerset.
Octavia suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and is confined to a wheelchair. Despite her disabilities she has raised £50,000 for the SMA Trust by doing things like a "mad drive" in a pony and trap from Windsor to Wincanton (Wheelchair and all).
