The Stagecoach Students Award for Endeavour
Presented by Nigel Lindsay, Actor of Shrek, they were awarded as follows:
Gold Winner: 7 year old Sammy Brentwood from Finchley, London.
Nominated by Jo Ball, Principal of Stagecoach Barnet.
Sammy suffers from a rare inflammatory bowel disease and is very poorly. He cannot eat most foods and is fed via a tube. He is bright and gifted, never complains and is determined to do well in all his performance work. His efforts have paid off. Sammy is currently appearing in the West End show "Billy Elliott."
Silver Winner: 10 year old Millie Strange from Potteme, Wiltshire.
Nominated by Natalie Maskell, Principal of Stagecoach Melkesham.
Millie was born premature with club feet. She endured countless operations, thinking her problems were over, two years ago, her surgeon diagnosed congenital shortening of her left leg. Millie underwent a five hour operation, which meant her leg was pinned and in a cage. She had weeks without sleep, numerous infections and is in continuous pain. Yet two weeks later, she was back at Stagecoach! This term she is taking her PAA exams at Grade 4 level. At Stagecoach she manages to forget about her pain and discomfort.
Bronze Winner: 7 year old Joel Hassell from Leamington Spa.
Nominated by Jacqui Dance, Principal of Stagecoach Leamington Spa.
Joel suffers with cystic fibrosis and needs physiotherapy twice a day. In the past year he has fought off MRSA, yet he attended Stagecoach with a drip in his arm. He is bright and enthusiastic, demonstrates amazing commitment and has excelled in singing, dancing and drama. His confidence has grown. He truly has a heart of gold.
